Fort Lauderdale Dangerous Drug Lawyer
Have You Been Injured by Xarelto?
Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals have made millions of dollars off
of their anticoagulant drug Xarelto since it first received FDA approval
in 2011. Used to prevent blood clots and strokes in people who suffer
from Pulmonary Embolism (PE), Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Atrial Fibrillation
(Afib), the drug works by reducing the formation of blood clots in the
arteries or veins. Unfortunately, the drug can also cause a dangerous
side effects requiring immediate hospitalization.
Lawsuits are currently being filed against these drug manufacturers for
failing to properly warn physicians and patients about the risk of internal
bleeding, as well as for failing to offer any way to mitigate the damage
caused by the drug. If you have been injured or have lost a loved one
after taking Xarelto, speak with a Xarelto attorney about your rights
to compensation. These is a statute of limitations in Florida for
personal injury cases, so call now. Every day you wait to call may be the last chance
you have to file a claim!

Xarelto Side Effects
Use of Xarelto has been linked with uncontrollable internal bleeding which
may lead to patient death. Currently,
there is no known cure to reverse the type of internal bleeding caused
by Xarelto, which has led the Institute of Safe Medication Practices to include Xarelto
in its list of high-alert medications.
The FDA has warned of the potential for the following side effects:
- Brain bleeding
- Gastrointestinal bleeding
- Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma
- External bleeding (nose, skin, gums)
Although the risk of internal bleeding is also present in other blood thinning
medications, the incidence is higher in Xarelto. The lack of treatment
options available in case something does go wrong also sets it apart from
other medications like Warfarin, for which a high dose of Vitamin K is
an effective remedy to side effects. Furthermore, Xarelto users are not
monitored by their doctors in the same way that patients taking other
blood thinners are – through frequent blood testing, dietary monitoring,
and by avoiding any dangerous drug interactions. As this is not required
with Xarelto, patients are at a greater risk of experiencing side effects.
If you have experienced any of the following symptoms after taking Xarelto,
seek medical help immediately:
- Nausea or vomiting
- Difficulty speaking or understanding speech
- Weakness on one side of the body
- Lack of coordination and balance
- Unusual and/or severe headaches
- Constant fatigue and/or dizziness
- Blood in vomit or vomit that looks like coffee grounds
- Black or tarry stool
- Blood in urine
- Pale skin
- Unusual bruises or blisters
- Longer or heavier menstrual periods
