José Javier Rodríguez
“No matter who you are you deserve a chance to be heard and to have someone fighting for you, particularly if you have been wronged or injured through no fault of your own. I’ve dedicated my career to making sure that those who most need help get a fair shot at justice.”
José Javier Rodríguez is a South Florida trial attorney at Kelley/Uustal who is devoted to the rights of individuals, including those who would not otherwise have access to the legal system. José Javier focuses on representing individuals in complex litigation related to business and commercial disputes, dangerous and defective products, financial misconduct, employment and personal injury matters.
José Javier also serves in the Florida House of Representatives, having been elected in 2014 to a second term representing District 112 in Miami where he and his wife live. In 2015, he was appointed to the Florida Bar’s Standing Committee on Consumer Protection Law.
Background and Employment History
After earning a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2006, José Javier turned down lucrative job offers elsewhere and returned home to Miami to begin his legal career with Florida Legal Services. José Javier litigated individual, complex, and representative actions on behalf of low-wage workers, tenants, homeowner associations, individuals enforcing their civil rights, small business owners and neighborhood-based organizations. He also frequently counseled his clients on matters of corporate compliance and policy.
Until 2010, José also served as an Adjunct Clinical Professor with the Carlos A. Costa Immigration and Human Rights Clinic at Florida International University’s College of Law. Prior to attending law school, José served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal from 2000 to 2003, first as a business advising volunteer and then as an advisor to Senegal’s Ministry of Labor.
José Javier’s level of experience and practical knowledge may make all the difference in your case.
