$1.85 Million from Wells Fargo in New Mexico
The mother of 4 boys died when a Wells Fargo armored vehicle slid across an icy road into oncoming traffic in a remote area of Navajo land in New Mexico.
Wells Fargo argued that its driver did nothing wrong, and that the driver could not have prevented the truck from sliding out on the ice and snow. Kelley and Uustal argued that the armor in the truck caused stability problems, that the driver was going too fast for conditions, and that Wells Fargo policy prevented the Wells Fargo driver and guard from giving assistance to the mother as she lay dying on the side of the road because Wells Fargo required them to stay with the money.
After beginning trial in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Wells Fargo paid one of the highest settlement amounts ever in that state for a motor vehicle accident.
