Melissa Medrano
“I am committed to maintaining our judicial system as a ‘level playing field’ in which every individual enjoys an equal opportunity for his/her voice to be heard.”
Attorney Melissa Medrano works to protect individuals in cases involving serious injury or death.
After graduating from Duke University, Melissa attended University of Miami School of Law, where she was a member of the University of Miami Law Review, and the Moot Court Board. While attending law school, Melissa interned for the Honorable Lenore C. Nesbitt, a federal judge in the Southern District of Florida. It was here that Melissa first realized her love of litigation.
After graduating, Melissa began her legal career specializing in federal employment law litigation. She represented many of Florida’s largest corporations, including Florida Power and Light, JM Family Enterprises, Carnival Cruise Lines, Memorial Healthcare Systems, and Holy Cross Hospital. As corporate defense counsel to various Florida companies, Melissa provided daily advice and training regarding corporate compliance with state and federal employment laws. She litigated claims of employment discrimination in federal court and also handled some of the subsequent appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Motivated in large part by her desire to help those without significant financial resources, Melissa joined the law firm of Kelley/Uustal in 2009. She now represents plaintiffs, primarily those who have been seriously injured or killed as a result of the negligence or wrongdoing of others.
