The federal government mandates uniform bumper heights for cars. This law has saved countless lives and money. When cars collide, the bumpers provide the first level of protection. Responsible manufacturers take great care when designing their vehicles to make sure they don’t create unnecessary threats to other people and other vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration discovered that SUVs in general are over 2.5 times more likely to kill than other vehicles. Sometimes they “climb and crush,” which means they climb up and on top of the other vehicle, crushing the other vehicle and the occupants inside.
