Attorney Catherine Darlson of Kelley/Uustal was recently featured in a Miami Herald article entitledGen Z workers ditching the corner office for face-to-face collaboration. In the article, Catherine describes how a focus on collaboration has helped her and her fellow attorneys become more effective at their jobs. According to author Cindy Krischer Goodman, her generation has initiated an emphasis on this workplace approach, and now newer generations are ensuring that it sticks around.

While she has the option to work from home, Catherine prefers going into her law office so that she can interface with her colleagues. “The office environment creates that opportunity to pull someone in with a different level of experience when they have something to contribute,” Darlson shared with the Herald. “For the younger lawyers, it’s really an advantage to us as we try to grow.”

Catherine also shares her thoughts on the changing definition of flexibility. “It’s about coming in and leaving whenever I want as long as I get my work done,” Darlson says. Rather than equating flexibility with working from home, she believes that it is beneficial to work with her team, problem solve, collaborate, and get real-time feedback with less rigidity in work schedule.

Kelley/Uustal is proud to have put together a dedicated team of attorneys who are committed to their work and who wish to grow to be the best that they can be. Follow the link above to read the full text of the article.
